His time with Wham, where he was part of a duo act, was also highly successful. The duo sold more than 28 million albums across just a four-year period. Faith, his debut solo album, almost matched these sales, selling 20 million albums alone.

Michael is a British icon that has received more airtime on British radio than any other artist in history. The Radio Academy announced this fact in 2004 with airtime between 1984 and 2004 n consideration.

Michael was honored with the distinction of being the 40th Greatest Artist of all time by Billboard. Michael’s 30+ years in music led him to win dozens of awards and helped him win the award of Best British Male twice.

George Michael is widely recognized as a top 50 artists of all time and died at the early age of 53. Autopsy reports showed that he died of natural causes. A life cut short, many fans never got to see Michael perform in-person.
